Miguel Oliveira trained in Cambridge and completed his postgraduate medical degree in Oxford. He was an Orthopaedic Registrar in the South West Thames region, working in many of the hospitals in the Surrey and Sussex area.
He has a specialist interest in Hand and Wrist Surgery. In addition to the experience that he gained as a Registrar, working with other Consultants in the region, he has also had specialist training on 3 separate Fellowships, in Windsor, Cape Town and Barcelona. His training has therefore covered all aspects of Hand and Wrist Surgery, an interesting but often challenging subspecialty of Orthopaedics.
He worked as a Consultant in London before being appointed as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to St. Richard’s Hospital, Chichester, in 2010, where he maintains a very active clinical and teaching role.
He has extensive experience in all aspects of Orthopaedic Surgery in the hand and wrist, but also developed, as a trainee, an interest in Sports Medicine and Sports Injuries. He has been a keen sportsman in the past and maintains this interest, more broadly now, in his practice.
Although he has developed an expertise in the surgical treatment of these conditions, he also has an interest in alternative treatment methods, based upon the individual, and is passionate about involving his patients in understanding their symptoms and the available treatment options, which many times may not require surgery at all. He remains committed to education, and this forms a fundamental part of his practice.
He is able to offer many treatments at the Oving Clinic as well as more complex surgery where necessary.
