Therapeutic ultrasound

Although there has been a general move away from passive modalities to treat musculoskeletal pain for very good reasons, various forms of electrotherapy still play a small part. Therapeutic ultrasound is the probably the most tried and tested of all these and is valuable in relieving local pain of inflamed tendon and muscle insertions, superficial bursae, and helping muscle tears and bleeds resolve (haematoma).
